Dr. Carina Bee MD, MPH

Epidemiology Lead

Expertise: Epidemiology, Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases, Outbreak Management 

Dr. Carina Bee is a physician and epidemiologist with a versatile blend of training and experience in epidemiological method, outbreak management, risk assessment, public health policy, as well as clinical research. 

 

Carina holds a permanent position with the Public Health Agency of Canada, at the Centre for Food-borne, Enteric, and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, Domestic and International Zoonoses Technical Team, as an emerging disease epidemiologist. Recently, Carina has supported the local public health pandemic response for COVID-19 as an epidemiologist with both the Middlesex-London Health Unit and the Regional Municipality of York.

 

Carina will be consulting for ETIO as an epidemiology lead for the infectious disease portfolio.

Dr. Sajjad Fazel PharmD, MPH​

Knowledge Translation Lead

Expertise: Health Communication, Policy Analysis, Knowledge Translation and Public Relations

Dr. Sajjad Fazel is a clinical pharmacist and public health researcher who has a wealth of knowledge and experience in health communication, project management, knowledge translation, policy analysis, and public relations.

 

Sajjad has utilized his academic research and professional expertise from working in three countries to guide health leaders in realizing their vision by translating evidence into policy and practice. He has consulted for and worked with several NGOs, hospitals, governmental agencies, private firms, and health charities in Canada, India, and Tanzania. 

 

Sajjad's philosophy revolves around collaboration and team-work. He uses a people-focused approach to understand clients' needs and ensures the outcomes of the project are completed in a timely manner. Sajjad leverages his media expertise to help medical and health-related brands build their presence and extend their reach by engaging with stakeholders and customers on traditional and social media.

 

More recently he has consulted for the Canadian Cancer Society on their tobacco control initiatives, and Diabetes Canada on creating a national screening framework. He has also developed several policy options for occupational health and safety in British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba. Currently, he is working with a team of scientists across Canada to address COVID-19 misinformation. Sajjad has been featured in major news outlets including BBC, CBC, and Global News Radio.

Dr. Abe Abraham B.D.S., M.P.H, M.P.Ed., D.P.H.(c), C.C.R.A.​

Consultant

Expertise: Health Research, Knowledge Translation and Policy Analysis

Dr. Abe Abraham is a public health professional, dentist and an adjunct clinical professor passionate about bringing positive changes leading to reduced disease incidence rates and better quality of life in the population. He has comprehensive experience in designing and implementing communicable disease prevention programs and clinical research programs.

 

He has worked in multiple public health positions in Africa and India including Provincial Dentist and Health Executive Member, Head of Provincial Oral Health Programs and Government Dental Officer with Ministry of Health. He has collaborated with not-for profit organizations, World Health Organization and for-profit organizations to improve the health of target populations. Experienced in HIV, flu, typhoid, diarrhea, hepatitis, measles, tuberculosis, STDs, caries, oral cancer & fall prevention programs, conducting  systematic review, meta analysis and  randomised control trials.. 

 

He has vast experience in publications, data analysis and in public health research through Western University where he has expertise in designing and supporting programs with a social determinants of health and health equity lens. Here he also excelled in his proficiency in teaching students in dentistry and graduate programs, curriculum design, knowledge translation & student supervision.
